Thailand has been one of the friendliest countries to Japan and shares some commonalities with us: Royal Family, linguistic isolation,  and non-colonized history. Thailand, however, has been much more aggressive in its globalization for the sake of tourism and manufacturing. The number international schools are growing, and universities are increasing the number of international programs for Thai students as well as for international students. The regular programs are also using English as the chief medium of instruction.  Therefore, we are interested in English education in Thai universities. Professor Apsiak is a well-known linguist and has been engaged in English education for Thai students for a long time. In this lecture, we will learn about English education in Thailand and discuss its relevance to Japanese universities. All members of the Kanazawa University community are welcome. The lecture will be given in English. No reservation is necessary.
