About our language courses
言語科目は、２つの科目群に分かれます。２つは、ＧＳ言語科目（英語）（日本語：留学生向け）と初習言語科目に大別できます。
１．ＧＳ言語科目
ＧＳ言語科目（英語）は、グローバル化に対応した言語運用能力を高める科目です。汎用的な英語実践能力の向上を目指す「Practical Englishコース」と、大学で必要とされる英語能力の向上を目指す「EAP（English for Academic Purposes)コース」があります。
ＧＳ言語科目（日本語）は、日本語を母語としない留学生に対応した日本語科目を開講します。
２．初習言語科目
学生が言語についての諸能力を養うとともに、諸言語の習得を通じて世界の多様な文化に対する理解を促進し「多文化共生」の時代に生きる力を身につけさせる科目群です。将来の専門及び社会生活等で必要となる言語についての諸能力も養成します。
言語の種類は次のとおりです。
ドイツ語、フランス語、中国語、朝鮮語、スペイン語、ギリシア語及びラテン語、ロシア語※、日本語（留学生向け）
※ロシア語は2024年度不開講です。2025年度以降の開講は未定です。

Our language courses are divided into two main categories: GS Language courses (English for domestic students, Japanese for international students) and Additional Foreign Language courses.
- GS Language courses
The GS Language courses aim to help students improve their language proficiency so that they can participate in the age of globalization. There are two distinct courses for domestic students: the Practical English course is designed to improve students’ practical English abilities; the EAP course is designed to improve students’ abilities to use English for academic purposes. In addition, the GS Language course (Japanese) is offered to international students, that is, students whose native language is not Japanese.
- Additional Foreign Language courses
These courses are provided to give students an opportunity to learn different foreign languages, thereby deepening their understanding of various cultures around the globe and enhancing their sensitivity to culture so that students can live and work in this multicultural age. The courses also aim to enable students to attain language skills essential for their future career as well as their future academic studies.
The following languages are offered: German, French, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Greek/Latin, Russian* and Japanese (for international students). *Russian is not offered in the AY 2024. It has not been determined about the AY 2025 and later
